Medical ultrasound, or sonography, is a non-invasive diagnostic imaging technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of internal body structures. It is one of the most widely used imaging modalities in modern healthcare, applied across obstetrics, gynaecology, cardiac imaging, vascular assessment, and musculoskeletal examination, among other specialisms. At the University of Leeds, the BSc Medical Ultrasound (Sonography) is a three-year full-time programme taught by academics with extensive experience in ultrasound education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, combining scientific and clinical knowledge with the practical scanning skills that professional sonography requires. The programme develops your understanding of the physics of ultrasound and how imaging equipment works, alongside the anatomy, physiology, and pathology relevant to the clinical areas
