About this course

Environment and sustainable development with economics is a degree that addresses one of the central challenges facing human societies: how to manage natural resources and environmental systems sustainably while also meeting the needs of a growing and economically diverse global population. Environmental economics provides the analytical tools to understand the economic causes and consequences of environmental degradation, the design of policies and market mechanisms that can address them, and the trade-offs between economic development and environmental protection. Sustainable development adds the broader framing of how economies, societies, and governance systems can be reorganised to support long-run human flourishing within ecological limits.
