Forensic science applies scientific methods to the investigation of crime, providing the physical evidence on which criminal justice decisions depend. It draws on chemistry, biology, physics, and the forensic specialisms that have developed as disciplines in their own right, including toxicology, DNA analysis, trace evidence examination, and digital forensics.
