Geography occupies a uniquely broad position among the academic disciplines, connecting the physical sciences with the social sciences to understand the world at every scale, from the erosion of a single hillside to the global patterns of climate, migration, and economic development. Geographers study the Earth's landscapes, environments, and ecosystems alongside the human societies that inhabit and transform them, and they use fieldwork, data analysis, mapping, and theoretical frameworks to make sense of the relationships between places, people, and processes. At the University of Salford, this four-year full-time programme begins with a foundation year pathway, designed to build a strong grounding in geography and the essential study skills needed to succeed at degree level.
