About this course
Structural engineering with architecture is one of the most meaningful integrations in the built environment professions, bringing together the creative and spatial thinking of architecture with the technical rigour of structural engineering. Every building stands because structural principles are working behind the design: loads are transferred to the ground, materials behave within their limits and connections between elements are detailed to resist the forces that wind, gravity and human use impose. When structural engineers and architects understand each other's discipline deeply, the results are more beautiful, more durable and more efficient than when the two professions work at arm's length. At the University of Dundee, this five-year full-time programme includes a year abroad and focuses on the conceptualisation, design, analysis, construction and maintenance of infrastructure,
