About this course

Environmental science is the study of the natural systems that support life on earth and of the ways in which human activity is altering them. It is an inherently interdisciplinary subject, drawing on biology, chemistry, physical geography, ecology, geology, and social science, and it asks both diagnostic questions, what is happening to the environment and why, and prescriptive ones, what can be done about it. The urgency of climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution, and resource depletion makes environmental science one of the most consequential fields of study available to an undergraduate. At Hartpury University, this three-year full-time programme includes a sandwich year and a work placement, which together give the degree a very strong practical dimension.
