Environmental biology is the branch of life sciences concerned with how organisms interact with their environments, and with how human activity is changing those environments at local, regional, and global scales. It draws on ecology, conservation biology, genetics, and physiology to understand how populations and ecosystems function, how they respond to disturbance, and what strategies might help preserve biodiversity and ecological health in a world increasingly shaped by climate change, habitat loss, pollution, and overexploitation of natural resources.
