Geography is one of the most genuinely interdisciplinary of the university disciplines, spanning the physical processes that shape the Earth's surface, the human activities that transform landscapes and environments, and the interactions between the two. It asks how mountains and rivers form, how climate systems work, why cities grow where they do, how inequality is distributed across space, and what the consequences of environmental change will be for the communities that depend on particular places.
