About this course

History is much more than an account of what happened in the past. It is a discipline that examines how different people have understood, interpreted, and remembered the past, and how the evidence available to us shapes and limits what we can know. Historians develop the ability to analyse primary sources, construct arguments from incomplete evidence, assess the reliability and perspective of accounts, and situate particular events and processes within broader patterns of change and continuity. These are skills that train the mind with exceptional rigour and that transfer with remarkable versatility to careers across the public, private, and third sectors.
