Paramedic science is the study of pre-hospital emergency care, placing you at the most demanding and critical edge of healthcare. Paramedics are often the first clinicians to reach patients in life-threatening situations, required to make rapid clinical assessments, initiate complex treatments, and manage unpredictable environments with limited resources. The discipline draws on anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and clinical decision-making, combined with communication skills and the ability to remain effective under acute pressure. At Portsmouth, this three-year BSc (Hons) degree prepares you to register with the Health and Care Professions Council as a paramedic.
