About this course
Learning disability nursing is a specialist nursing field dedicated to supporting people with learning disabilities to achieve their fullest possible health and wellbeing, and to live as independently and inclusively as possible within their communities. Nurses in this field work in partnership with individuals, their families and carers, advocating for the rights and dignity of people who may face significant barriers to accessing appropriate healthcare. The role requires strong communication skills, creativity, compassion and a commitment to person-centred care and social inclusion.
