Wildlife, ecology and conservation science is a discipline at the intersection of biology, environmental science and practical conservation, concerned with understanding the diversity of life, the ecological systems that sustain it, and the methods used to protect both in the face of accelerating environmental change. It is a field driven by urgency as well as curiosity, and the scientists it trains are needed in every continent to monitor, manage and restore the natural world. At the University of Suffolk the programme is built around extensive fieldwork from the very first weeks, with immersive wildlife surveying experiences in the Scottish Highlands forming part of the early curriculum. Students progress to working in some of the most biodiverse ecosystems on earth, including field studies of large mammal conservation in South Africa and primate and reptile ecology in the Amazon Rain
