Biomedical science is the laboratory-based discipline that underpins the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of disease in clinical settings. Biomedical scientists work in hospital laboratories and other healthcare environments, analysing blood, tissue, urine, and other samples to provide the data that clinicians use to make diagnoses, monitor treatment responses, and assess patient health. The field encompasses haematology, clinical biochemistry, microbiology, medical immunology, histopathology, and transfusion science, all of which depend on the precise application of biological and chemical knowledge to real clinical questions.
