Civil and environmental engineering is a degree that recognises what modern engineering practice increasingly demands: that the design and construction of infrastructure must be understood in its environmental context, and that environmental management cannot be separated from the physical systems that human societies build. Civil engineering is concerned with roads, bridges, buildings, water supply, drainage, and the full range of infrastructure that makes modern life possible. Environmental engineering addresses the impacts of those systems on natural environments and the management of soil, water, and air quality. Together they provide a qualification of great practical relevance.
