Economics and econometrics together represent the intellectual core of modern quantitative economics. Economics analyses how individuals, firms, governments, and markets make decisions and allocate resources, building models that seek to explain and predict behaviour across everything from household spending to global trade. Econometrics provides the statistical methods needed to test those models against real-world data, turning economic theory into empirical science and making it possible to evaluate policy, measure inequality, and forecast economic conditions.
