Environmental management is the applied science of understanding, protecting, and improving the natural and built environments in the context of increasing human pressure. It draws on ecology, geography, planning, law, and business to address questions that are among the most urgent of our time: how do we reduce the environmental impact of economic activity, manage land and water sustainably, respond to climate change, and design systems that allow communities to flourish without degrading the resources they depend on? It is a discipline that is both analytically rigorous and practically oriented, producing graduates who can operate across the public, private, and voluntary sectors.
