About this course

Forensic investigation is the application of scientific and analytical methods to the investigation of crime and other legal matters. It sits at the intersection of natural science, law, and criminal justice, asking how physical evidence is collected, preserved, analysed, and presented in ways that meet the evidentiary standards of the legal system. Forensic investigators work with trace evidence, biological material, digital data, documents, and scene examination to reconstruct events and support the pursuit of justice. This three-year full-time degree at the University of Winchester combines scientific training with engagement in real-world criminal justice practice.
