About this course

Fine art is the practice and study of visual art as a discipline in its own right, concerned not just with making objects but with understanding why and how making matters. It occupies the intersection of creative practice and critical thought, asking how artistic choices communicate, how art relates to the culture that produces it, and how working with materials, images and ideas can challenge assumptions and extend understanding. A fine art degree develops your visual intelligence, critical vocabulary, practical skills and ability to work experimentally across different media and approaches. At the University of Salford you will study for three years full-time, following a programme that places creative play and creative thinking at the centre.
