Racehorse performance and rehabilitation is a highly specialist discipline that applies the principles of sport science, veterinary science and equine management specifically to thoroughbred and competition horses. Racehorses are elite equine athletes whose performance depends on the careful interaction of anatomy, physiology, nutrition, training, biomechanics, sport medicine and welfare, and the people who manage their preparation, recovery and long-term soundness require both scientific knowledge and practical expertise in one of the most demanding and economically significant sectors of the equine industry.
