About this course

Roads, canals, bridges, dams and buildings. None of them would exist, or function, without civil engineers. Structural engineers design and analyse all different types of structures that shape our built environment, including buildings, bridges, dams, tunnels, towers and stadiums. They make sure these structures are safe and able to withstand environmental forces such as strong winds and even earthquakes. Our Civil with Structural Engineering BEng(Hons) explores structural analysis and design, construction methods and materials, as well as geotechnical engineering to prepare you for a career in this exciting field. You’ll work in interdisciplinary project teams on industry-based scenarios – from design briefs to real-world case studies. Our Civil with Structural Engineering MEng degree offers an extra year of study at masters level.
