About this course

Criminology with cybercrime is a combination that reflects the growing importance of the digital environment as both a site of criminal activity and a context in which traditional criminological questions take on new dimensions. Criminology examines why crime occurs, how it is defined and measured, how justice systems respond to it, and what the social and political forces are that shape those responses. Cybercrime adds a specific and rapidly growing focus, examining the range of offences committed using computers and digital networks, from fraud and identity theft to hacking, online harassment, and the distribution of illegal content, and the particular challenges these pose for policing, prosecution, and prevention.
