Economics is the discipline that analyses how individuals, organisations and societies make decisions about the allocation of resources under conditions of scarcity and uncertainty. It encompasses the microeconomic study of individual markets and the macroeconomic study of national and international economies, developing analytical frameworks that shed light on everything from pricing decisions and labour markets to monetary policy, international trade and the sources of economic growth.
