About this course

Mathematics is the language of pattern, structure and logical necessity, and studying it at degree level develops a quality of thinking that is rare and consistently in demand. At the University of Sussex this four-year programme, which includes a foundation year and a research placement, is designed to show how mathematical thinking can be applied to real-world problems while also developing the theoretical foundations that make those applications possible. The research placement embedded in the programme gives you the opportunity to work alongside mathematicians on active research, experiencing first-hand what mathematical inquiry looks like at the frontier.
