About this course

Mechanical and electrical engineering is a combined discipline that recognises the growing convergence between mechanical systems and the electrical and electronic technologies that control, power, and optimise them. Mechanical engineering is concerned with the creative and imaginative use of engineering principles and science to shape the world around us, through the development of new materials, technologies, processes, and products. Mechanical engineers design and develop everything that moves or has moving parts, from spacecraft and aircraft to racing cars and household goods, from robotic control of machinery to nanotechnologies, from mechanical hearts and artificial limbs to wind turbines. Electrical engineering adds the design and operation of the power and control systems that increasingly drive all of these physical systems. At the University of Aberdeen, this four-year full-ti
