About this course

Mental health nursing is a specialist branch of the nursing profession dedicated to supporting people of all ages and backgrounds experiencing mental health difficulties, from anxiety and depression through to psychosis, personality disorders, eating disorders, and the mental health dimensions of physical illness. Mental health nurses work in inpatient units, community teams, crisis services, prisons, schools, and primary care, forming lasting therapeutic relationships and providing both clinical and emotional support during some of the most difficult periods of people's lives. The work demands empathy, resilience, and strong clinical skills in equal measure. At Swansea University, this three-year full-time degree prepares you for registration as a mental health nurse.
