About this course

Computer science provides the theoretical foundations and practical methods that make modern software and systems possible. Artificial intelligence extends that foundation into some of the most consequential questions in computing today: how can machines learn from data, reason under uncertainty, recognise patterns in images and language, and make decisions in complex environments? Studying these two areas together gives you both the rigorous grounding that underpins all of computing and the specialist knowledge to work at the frontier of one of the field's most rapidly growing domains. At the University of York, this three-year full-time programme includes a sandwich year in industry and a year abroad, along with a work placement, giving you substantial real-world and international experience alongside your academic study. You will explore how computational systems can communicate, lea
