About this course

Mechanical engineering is the discipline concerned with designing, building and maintaining machines and mechanical systems. It applies the principles of physics, mathematics and materials science to the creation of everything from the smallest precision components to large-scale power generation and industrial equipment. Its scope is enormous, spanning automotive, aerospace, energy, robotics, biomedical devices and manufacturing, and mechanical engineers are involved at every stage of a product's life, from concept and simulation through prototyping and manufacture to operation and decommissioning.
