Philosophy and physics is one of the most intellectually ambitious degree combinations available, bringing together the discipline that asks the most fundamental questions about existence, knowledge, and value with the science that investigates the deepest structure of the physical world. The two disciplines have always been in dialogue: the philosophy of science, the interpretation of quantum mechanics, questions about time, causation, and the foundations of physical theory are areas where physics and philosophy genuinely need each other. At the University of Durham this three-year full-time programme develops both disciplines to a serious level in parallel.
