Architectural environment engineering is the discipline that integrates architectural design with the engineering of the internal environment, asking how buildings can be designed to be thermally comfortable, well lit, acoustically effective, and energy-efficient while also being beautiful and responsive to their context. It sits at the boundary between architecture and building services engineering, and its practitioners bring a rare combination of spatial and aesthetic sensibility with technical understanding of environmental systems. As climate change makes the energy performance of buildings a central concern, this is a field of growing importance and relevance. At the University of Nottingham this four-year full-time programme includes an industrial year, providing extended professional experience in a practice, consultancy, or research organisation before you complete the degree.
