Computer science is the study of computation, its theoretical foundations, its algorithms, and the systems built to apply it. It asks how problems can be represented formally, how they can be solved efficiently, and how software and hardware work together to produce reliable systems at scale. Studying computer science develops a particular combination of logical precision and creative problem-solving that is valued across virtually every sector of the modern economy. The three-year full-time Computer Science programme at Middlesex University includes a foundation year for students who want to build their mathematical and technical foundations before entering the main degree, and a sandwich year and work placement for those who want significant professional experience as part of their studies.
