What exists, and what does it mean for something to exist? These are not merely abstract puzzles; they are the foundations on which science, law, politics, and ethics all rest. Studying philosophy develops a kind of thinking that is rigorous, sceptical, and precise, and that turns out to be useful in almost every domain of professional and intellectual life.
