About this course

Accounting and management is a combination that prepares you for leadership roles in organisations that depend on sound financial understanding as well as effective people and operational management. Accounting gives you the technical skills to prepare, analyse, and interpret financial information, understand cost structures, and support organisational decision-making with robust financial analysis. Management adds the broader skills of strategy, leadership, marketing, and organisational behaviour, developing your capacity to lead teams, manage change, and contribute to the strategic direction of an organisation. At Bangor University this programme includes a foundation year and a sandwich year as well as work placement experience, giving you a supported entry into degree-level study and significant professional development built into the course. The foundation year provides the knowledge and skills needed to succeed at degree level, while the sandwich year and placement experience connect your academic learning to real professional environments. A year abroad is also available, giving you the opportunity to study business and accounting in an international context. You will develop technical accounting skills alongside management knowledge, preparing for roles that require both financial literacy and leadership capability. Graduates from accounting and management programmes work in accounting practices, in-house finance teams, management roles across all sectors, and consulting. Many go on to pursue professional accounting qualifications, with the degree providing a strong foundation for ACCA, CIMA, or ICAEW examinations, which can be completed alongside or after graduation. The management component opens additional pathways into project management, operations, human resources, and general management. Further study at postgraduate level in accounting, finance, or business administration is an option for those wishing to develop specialist expertise or move into more senior leadership roles.
