BA Business and Finance
About this course
Business and finance is a degree that prepares you to understand how organisations create and manage value in an interconnected global economy. Finance runs through every business decision, from raising capital and managing cash flow to valuing acquisitions and allocating resources across international operations. Combining business and finance means you develop both the strategic and operational perspective needed to manage organisations effectively and the technical financial skills needed to analyse and optimise their performance. At Regent's University London you will study across three years on a full-time programme, with a year abroad that extends your perspective to international business and finance contexts. Regent's distinctive international character, with a student community drawn from many countries, means the international dimension of the degree is embedded in the learning environment as well as in the curriculum. You will study core areas of business including strategy, marketing, operations, and organisational behaviour, alongside financial accounting, corporate finance, financial markets, and investment. You will develop the confidence to manage people and resources in complex, globally dispersed organisations, and the financial literacy to interpret performance data, model decisions, and communicate financial information clearly. The degree also develops your commercial awareness and professional effectiveness, preparing you for the fast-paced and competitive financial and business sector from early in the programme. Graduates of business and finance enter careers across a wide spectrum of the commercial world. Roles in corporate finance, financial analysis, banking, and investment management are common directions for those drawn to the financial specialism. Business development, management consultancy, marketing, and operations management suit graduates whose strengths are more broadly commercial. Many graduates enter graduate schemes at large corporations, financial institutions, and professional services firms. The skills of financial reasoning, commercial awareness, and cross-cultural communication that Regent's develops are valued across a remarkably wide range of industries and regions. Further study at postgraduate level, including the MBA and specialist Masters programmes in finance, is a natural next step for those with senior leadership ambitions.
