BA Business Management
About this course
Business management is the study of how organisations are planned, led, and operated, drawing on economics, psychology, sociology, and quantitative methods to understand how people, processes, and resources are managed to achieve organisational goals. A business management degree covers the fundamental disciplines of management, including strategy, marketing, finance, operations, and human resources, developing both the conceptual frameworks and the practical skills needed to contribute to organisations of every kind, from startups and SMEs to multinationals and public sector bodies. At the University of Liverpool, this three-year full-time programme is taught at a research-intensive university with strong connections to the business community in Liverpool and the North West more broadly. You will study core areas of business management theory and practice, exploring how organisations make strategic decisions, how markets work, how businesses finance themselves and manage their costs, and how people are recruited, motivated, and developed. The degree includes a year abroad, giving you the opportunity to study in a different country and develop the international perspective that is increasingly important in a business environment where markets, supply chains, and careers cross national boundaries. Liverpool has good employer relationships and a career-focused approach to business education, with internship and industry engagement opportunities built into the student experience. Graduates in business management from Liverpool go on to careers in management roles across virtually every sector, including management trainee schemes with major employers, roles in marketing, finance, operations, human resources, and consulting, as well as entrepreneurship and the establishment of their own businesses. Some go on to postgraduate study in business, management, or specialist areas such as marketing, finance, or international business. The combination of academic business education and a year abroad gives graduates a broad and internationally aware perspective that is valued by employers across the full range of business and management careers.
