BA Digital Marketing
About this course
Digital marketing is concerned with how brands, organisations and individuals reach and influence audiences through online channels, from search engines and social media to email, content platforms and paid advertising. It is a field that demands both creative and analytical thinking: you need to understand consumer psychology and the craft of compelling content, but also the data infrastructure, measurement frameworks and algorithmic systems that determine whether digital campaigns succeed or fail. The pace of change in the field makes adaptability as important as technical knowledge. At Westminster this three-year full-time programme brings together the creative and analytical dimensions of the subject, giving you hands-on experience of building, managing and measuring the impact of an online brand presence. You will study digital strategy, search engine optimisation and marketing, social media management, content creation, analytics, consumer behaviour and the legal and ethical frameworks governing digital communications. The programme includes a sandwich year, providing an extended professional placement where you can apply your skills in a real marketing context, and a year abroad, giving you experience of how digital marketing operates in a different cultural and regulatory environment. Work placement experience is embedded throughout. A typical entry tariff of 120 points reflects the programme's position as rigorous but broadly accessible. Digital marketing graduates move into roles in search marketing, social media management, content strategy, email marketing, digital analytics, user experience, e-commerce and brand management across virtually every sector of the economy. The placement year frequently leads directly to a graduate role, and the practical portfolio of work you develop during the degree is often as important to employers as the qualification itself. Postgraduate study in marketing, digital communications, data analytics or business administration is an option for those who want to specialise further or move into more senior strategic roles.
