BSc Finance, Accounting and Management with Placement Year
About this course
Finance, accounting, and management together address the full range of questions about how organisations are resourced, measured, and led. Finance concerns the management of money and capital: how organisations raise funds, how they invest, and how they manage risk. Accounting provides the systems for recording and communicating financial performance. Management brings the broader organisational dimension: how people are led, how strategy is made, and how organisations navigate competitive and institutional environments. Combining all three gives you a genuinely integrated understanding of how organisations work and how the financial and management dimensions of that work fit together. At Nottingham you will develop thorough knowledge across all three disciplines, building from a common foundation into the specialist knowledge that each requires. Financial theory and practice, financial reporting, corporate governance, auditing, management accounting, strategy, organisational behaviour, and operations are all part of the programme. The four-year full-time degree includes a year abroad, giving you the opportunity to study in an international context that is increasingly relevant in a world where business and finance cross national boundaries continuously. The programme also includes a placement year, providing substantial professional experience in a finance, accounting, or management environment before you graduate. Graduates are well placed for careers in accounting and finance, management, banking, consulting, the civil service, and the full range of commercial and public sector organisations. The programme provides strong preparation for professional accounting qualifications, which many graduates pursue alongside or after their degree. Others move directly into graduate roles in financial services, industry, or the public sector. Postgraduate study in finance, accounting, or an MBA is also a well-established route.
