BSc Finance and Management with a Year Abroad
About this course
Finance and Management is a combination that addresses two of the most central functions within any organisation: understanding and managing money, and leading people and processes effectively. Finance gives you the tools to analyse how businesses raise capital, allocate resources, assess investment opportunities and manage risk. Management develops your understanding of how organisations are structured, how decisions are made, how people are led and how strategy is formed and executed. Together they prepare you for roles in which financial expertise and leadership ability need to work in tandem. At the University of East Anglia this four-year degree combines a rigorous grounding in finance and business strategy with the inclusion of a year abroad, which is integrated into the programme structure and gives you the opportunity to study in an international context. The year abroad broadens your perspective on how business and finance operate in different economic and cultural environments, developing the international awareness that employers in globally active organisations increasingly look for. You will develop analytical and decision-making skills alongside the commercial understanding that the degree is designed to provide. Graduates from Finance and Management degrees are well positioned for careers across a wide range of business and financial environments. Many go on to roles in corporate finance, investment, financial analysis, management consulting, business development and operations management. Others find careers in banking, insurance, accounting, treasury management and financial planning. The combination of financial expertise and management skills makes graduates attractive to employers in both specialist finance roles and broader management positions across commercial, public sector and non-profit organisations. For those wishing to continue their studies, the degree provides a good foundation for postgraduate work in finance, business administration, management or related fields.
