BSc International Business and Entrepreneurship
About this course
International business and entrepreneurship addresses two of the most significant forces shaping the contemporary economy: the globalisation of markets and the creation of new ventures that challenge established ways of doing things. International business examines how organisations operate, compete, and create value when they cross national boundaries, navigating different legal systems, cultural norms, and economic conditions. Entrepreneurship is broader in scope, exploring how new enterprises are created and how innovation drives economic and social change in the private, public, and voluntary sectors alike. The combination is well suited to students who want to understand both the landscape of global business and the creative, risk-taking mindset that produces new organisations and ways of working. At the University of Essex, this three-year full-time programme develops your understanding of international markets, strategy, entrepreneurial thinking, and new venture creation. You will study how creative individuals, dynamic organisations, and enabling environments generate economic growth and social transformation, engaging with both established theory and contemporary case studies from businesses operating at a global scale. Essex has a diverse student body with strong international connections, and the programme benefits from that global character in its teaching and its peer community. The typical entry tariff of 104 points makes the programme accessible to a range of students with strong academic potential. Graduates of international business and entrepreneurship programmes work in startups and growing businesses, in the international divisions of established companies, in social enterprises, in management consultancy, and in organisations such as NGOs and development agencies where entrepreneurial approaches to creating impact are increasingly valued. Many go on to start their own ventures. Postgraduate study in business, entrepreneurship, or international management is also a well-established route for those wishing to develop their expertise further.
