BA International Business
About this course
International business is the study of how organisations operate across borders, how they manage the challenges of different regulatory environments, currencies, cultures, and competitive conditions, and how global trade and investment shape the strategies of firms and the economies they operate in. It is a discipline that takes the principles of business and applies them in a genuinely international context, developing the commercial knowledge and cross-cultural understanding that organisations working in global markets need from their managers. At Wrexham University, this programme is structured to develop both academic knowledge and practical capability. It includes a foundation year, making it accessible to students who may not have studied business at A-level or who want to strengthen their academic foundations before the degree proper, as well as a sandwich placement year and work placements embedded in the curriculum. This means you will progress from building your foundations through to advanced study and professional experience in an international business context. You will study marketing, finance, strategy, operations, human resources, international trade, and cross-cultural management, developing the rounded knowledge base needed to work effectively in global organisations. Wrexham's location in north Wales, close to the economic corridor of the English Midlands and North West, gives the programme a practical commercial context. International business graduates go on to careers in multinational companies, import and export, international trade consultancy, financial services, supply chain management, and the public sector, as well as in the growing number of small and medium-sized businesses that operate internationally. The placement year is a significant advantage in the graduate labour market, and many students receive employment offers from their placement organisations. Postgraduate study in international business, management, marketing, or finance is a natural next step for those who want to specialise or develop their expertise further.
