BSc International Event Management
About this course
Event management is the professional discipline concerned with planning, organising, and delivering events of all kinds, from corporate conferences and product launches to music festivals, sporting occasions, charity galas, and international summits. It is a demanding and highly practical field, requiring the ability to manage complex logistics, coordinate multiple suppliers and stakeholders, work to tight budgets and deadlines, and respond calmly to the inevitable surprises that arise when large numbers of people and moving parts come together. International event management extends that core by adding the specific knowledge and cultural awareness needed to conceive and deliver events that cross national boundaries. At the University of Surrey, this three-year, full-time degree prepares you for the future by integrating AI tools and digital skills into the programme alongside the traditional management and creative disciplines of event planning. You will develop knowledge of event strategy, marketing, venue management, production, logistics, sustainability, and the legal and financial frameworks within which events operate. Surrey has a strong reputation in hospitality and events management and close connections to the industry, and its location in southern England gives excellent access to London's dense concentration of venues, agencies, and event businesses. Graduates from international event management degrees work in event agencies, conference and exhibition centres, hotels and venues, sports organisations, music and entertainment businesses, charities, and corporate events teams. The project management, people management, and problem-solving skills you develop are also valued in a wide range of adjacent roles. Many graduates go on to develop specialist expertise in particular types of event, including live music, sporting events, or corporate meetings, while others move into broader marketing, communications, or operations management roles.
