BSc Marketing
About this course
Marketing is the practice of understanding what people want and need, and creating the strategies, communications and experiences through which organisations connect with them. It draws on consumer psychology, data analysis, communication theory and creative thinking, and it operates across every sector from consumer goods and technology to healthcare, charities and the arts. Marketing is both a strategic discipline, concerned with positioning, brand building and long-term competitive advantage, and a practical craft, requiring the ability to plan, execute and evaluate campaigns across multiple channels. At the University of Bradford, this three-year full-time degree, which is available with a foundation year, develops your understanding of core marketing theory and practice alongside the commercial skills that marketing professionals need. The foundation year is available for students who will benefit from additional academic preparation before degree-level study. In the main programme you will engage with consumer behaviour, brand management, market research, digital marketing, advertising, and the strategic frameworks that underpin effective marketing decision-making. The degree develops your analytical, creative and communication skills alongside your knowledge of how marketing operates in different organisational and market contexts. Bradford's approach to marketing education has a practical orientation, and past students have found that placement experiences have helped to clarify and determine their career direction. The degree prepares you for a marketing profession that is both analytically demanding and creatively rewarding. Graduates from marketing degrees move into brand management, digital marketing, market research, advertising, public relations, content creation, product management, social media management, and a wide range of commercial roles in all sectors. The strategic and analytical skills the degree develops are also valued in roles beyond marketing itself, and postgraduate study in marketing, business or communications is a natural next step for those who want to deepen their expertise.
