BA Marketing
About this course
Marketing is the discipline concerned with understanding what people want, creating products and services that meet those needs, and communicating their value effectively. In a world of saturated markets and fragmented media, the ability to cut through with a compelling proposition, to understand consumer behaviour with rigour, and to deploy digital tools with skill is more valuable than ever. Marketing sits at the centre of almost every commercial organisation and is one of the most versatile graduate careers available. At the University of Northumbria at Newcastle this three-year full-time programme covers the full range of marketing disciplines, from consumer psychology and market research through brand management, digital marketing, advertising, and campaign strategy to the commercial and ethical contexts in which marketing operates. You will develop both the analytical skills to understand markets and the creative confidence to develop compelling propositions and communications across digital and traditional channels. The programme is taught with a strong focus on professional practice and employability. The degree includes a sandwich year with a work placement and a year abroad, giving you both a full year of professional marketing experience and an international perspective that is directly relevant to a discipline that increasingly operates across borders and digital platforms. The combination of placement, international study, and academic content is among the strongest preparation for a marketing career that any programme in the UK can offer. Graduates go on to careers in marketing management, digital marketing, brand management, advertising, market research, public relations, content strategy, social media, and business development. Northumbria's strong industry connections and the placement year's direct employer relationships significantly support graduate outcomes. Many also continue to postgraduate study in marketing, business, or digital strategy.
