About this course
Media, journalism, and culture is an interdisciplinary degree that takes seriously the many facets of how information and cultural meaning are produced, circulated, and consumed in contemporary societies. Media studies provides the critical and theoretical tools to analyse how media institutions operate and how audiences engage with them. Journalism examines the professional practices and ethics of news production and how they shape public understanding of events. Cultural studies asks how culture is produced, contested, and experienced, examining the relationship between popular culture, power, and identity. At Cardiff University, this three-year full-time degree studies these facets of journalism, media, culture, and communications and considers, in an era of globalisation and dynamic social change, their impact on society, politics, and popular culture.
