BSc Real Estate and Property Management with foundation year
About this course
Real estate and property management sits at the intersection of economics, law, finance and surveying, dealing with the development, valuation, management and investment of land and buildings. Property is one of the most significant asset classes in the UK economy, and the professionals who manage, advise on and transact property need a blend of commercial intelligence, technical knowledge and communication skills. The field spans residential and commercial markets, development and planning, asset management and investment analysis, and it increasingly requires sensitivity to sustainability and the long-term environmental impact of the built environment. At Coventry University this four-year full-time programme includes a foundation year, which provides academic preparation for students who are entering the degree from a wide range of prior backgrounds. The programme also includes a sandwich placement year, a year abroad and embedded work placement opportunities, giving you a particularly rich combination of professional and international experience alongside your academic studies. You will develop skills in communication, negotiation and business planning for both domestic and international property markets, alongside technical knowledge of valuation, property law, management practice and real estate finance. The typical entry tariff for this programme is around 104 UCAS points. Graduates of real estate and property management programmes are well placed for careers in property management, estate agency, commercial surveying, property development, asset management, housing and planning. Roles as property manager, entrepreneur or consultant in the real estate sector are well-supported destinations. Many graduates pursue professional qualifications through the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, and the degree provides a strong foundation for the Assessment of Professional Competence that leads to MRICS designation. Postgraduate study in real estate, planning, property development or finance is a further option for those who wish to deepen specialist expertise.
