About this course

Tourism and hospitality are among the world's largest industries, contributing enormously to economies and employment in almost every country on earth. They encompass far more than hotels and restaurants: cruise lines, theme parks, heritage sites, festivals, travel agencies, tourism boards, event management companies, and the growing wellness and adventure travel sectors are all part of an industry that requires skilled managers who understand both the commercial and the experiential dimensions of what they do. At Coventry you will develop the knowledge and skills to manage organisations in this complex, fast-moving sector. The programme covers tourism and hospitality operations, customer experience management, marketing and revenue management, events planning, strategic management, finance, and sustainability in tourism, giving you both the broad management foundation and the sector-specific knowledge that employers look for. You will develop an understanding of global tourism trends and the diverse cultural, environmental, and economic factors that shape them. The three-year full-time programme includes a sandwich placement year and a year abroad, both of which are particularly valuable in an industry that is genuinely international and where employers value people with real work experience and cross-cultural awareness. Graduates go on to management careers in hotels, resorts, airlines, cruise companies, event management, visitor attractions, destination management organisations, and tourism boards. The management skills the degree develops are also transferable to roles in marketing, operations, and general business management more broadly. Many graduates progress to management trainee schemes or operational management roles, while others pursue postgraduate study in hospitality management, events, or tourism.
