Health Care Service Manager

As a health care service manager or director, you are in charge of running a hospital, clinic or health service. You manage teams, budgets and buildings. You work with doctors, nurses and admin staff to make sure everything runs smoothly and patients are looked after well. You also talk to the government and local groups to understand what the community needs from healthcare.

Your work is both business and people management. You check the accounts, hire and train staff, plan new services, and look at data about how well you are doing. But your main job is making sure your team has what they need to do their jobs properly, and that patients get good care. It is challenging work with lots of responsibility, but running a service that helps thousands of people keeps you motivated.
