The role
What a localization manager actually does, day to day.
As a localization manager, you lead the work of adapting products for different countries. This is more than just translating words - you make sure that pictures, colours, jokes and how things work all make sense to people in that country. You work with translators, designers, product teams and marketing staff to check that everything is correct and fits the local culture.
Your job involves planning each project - working out the timeline, the budget and who needs to do what. You check the quality of all the translated content to make sure it is accurate and sounds natural. You manage relationships with freelance translators and local teams who understand the culture, and you solve problems when something does not work. This job needs good organisation skills, attention to detail, and understanding of how different cultures think.
