You treat the body with respect and dignity, prepare it for the funeral or cremation, and help families through the arrangements and ceremony. This job needs someone calm, respectful, and good at noticing what families need.
Your daily tasks include washing and preparing the body, keeping the mortuary clean and organized, managing paperwork like death certificates, operating the cremation equipment safely, and transporting the body. You will answer families' questions, help during viewings and funerals, and sometimes arrange how the body gets to the funeral. You work closely with funeral directors and treat everyone - the person who has died and their family - with quiet respect.
