MA Business Management and Spanish & Latin American Studies (4yrs)
About this course
Business management and Spanish and Latin American studies is a combination that equips you for careers in one of the most economically dynamic and linguistically significant parts of the world. Spanish is spoken by more than 480 million people as a first language and is widely used in commerce, politics, and culture across Latin America, the United States, Europe, and beyond. Combining it with a serious study of business management means you develop both the analytical and operational skills that modern organisations need and the linguistic and cultural competence to deploy them effectively in Spanish-speaking markets. At the University of Aberdeen, this four-year, full-time programme builds a firm foundation in business, organisations, and management while adding the competitive advantage of a modern European language widely spoken in the Americas. You will study the principles of business strategy, organisational behaviour, marketing, and finance alongside the Spanish language and the histories, cultures, and politics of Latin America and Spain. In your third year you will spend a year abroad, spending time in a Spanish-speaking country and gaining immersive linguistic and cultural experience that deepens both strands of the degree. The programme is designed to develop skills of great appeal to multinational employers and to open doors to careers in international business, NGOs, and other internationally oriented sectors. The typical entry tariff is 200 UCAS points. Graduates from this programme are well placed for careers in multinational companies with Latin American or Spanish operations, international development organisations, NGOs, the foreign office and diplomatic service, consultancy, financial services, and any sector where business and Spanish-speaking markets intersect. The year abroad frequently establishes connections that persist into professional life. Postgraduate study in international business, Latin American studies, or management provides a natural continuation for those who want to go further.
