BA Events Management
About this course
Events management is concerned with the planning, coordination, and delivery of events ranging from corporate conferences and product launches to music festivals, sporting competitions, and cultural gatherings. It is a discipline that combines project management, logistics, financial planning, marketing, and people skills in a fast-moving environment where no two projects are the same. Events are a significant and growing part of the economy, and the people who can deliver them well, managing budgets, suppliers, venues, and audiences simultaneously, are consistently in demand. At Manchester Metropolitan University, this three-year full-time programme develops your competence across the full lifecycle of event planning and delivery. From the first session, you will begin building the skills and knowledge you need to work in the industry, studying event design, financial management, sponsorship, marketing, risk management, and the operational challenges of large-scale event production. The programme includes a sandwich placement year, giving you direct professional experience in an events role alongside your academic study. This placement is one of the most important elements of the degree: events management is a practical field, and the ability to demonstrate that you have worked in a real events environment makes a significant difference when you enter the job market. Graduates work as event coordinators and managers across a wide range of sectors, including corporate events, hospitality, sports, entertainment, charity, and the public sector. Conference and exhibition management, venue management, festival production, and experiential marketing are all natural career directions. Many graduates also move into related areas such as marketing, public relations, and project management, where the practical and organisational skills developed during the degree are directly applicable. Postgraduate study in events management, tourism, marketing, or business administration is an option for those who wish to develop their expertise further or take on more senior leadership roles.
